For demanding day traders and system developers trading in AmiBroker, the quality and latency of live data is the ultimate success factor.

With the TAI-PAN real-time interface, you can stream highly precise tick and minute data directly and without delay into your AmiBroker charts.

In this comprehensive guide, we show you the exact process: from installing the necessary plugin and creating the database to importing your first real-time catalogs.

Video Guide: Connecting TAI-PAN Real-Time to AmiBroker

Step-by-Step Setup in TAI-PAN and AmiBroker

Connecting TAI-PAN Realtime to AmiBroker first requires a brief plugin installation within TAI-PAN before you can create the database in AmiBroker.

Step 1: Install the AmiBroker Plugin in TAI-PAN

For AmiBroker to read our data, a DLL file (the plugin) must be copied into your AmiBroker directory.

1. Start your **TAI-PAN Realtime** software [00:00:03].

2. Navigate to the **Taipan** item in the main menu.

3. Click on the entry **"Install Ami Broker Plugin"** (Ami Broker Plugin installieren) [00:00:14]. The required interface file will now be automatically set up in the background.

Step 2: Create a New Real-Time Database in AmiBroker

1. Now open your **AmiBroker Software** (we are using version 6 in this example).

2. Go to the top left and select **File** > **New** > **Database** [00:01:30].

3. Enter a descriptive name in the "Database folder" field (e.g., `TPR` for Tai-Pan Realtime) and click **Create** [00:01:44].

4. In the **Data source** dropdown menu, select the **"Taipan realtime data Plugin"** (this entry was added during Step 1) [00:01:58].

5. Set the **Base time interval** according to your needs, e.g., to **1 Minute** or Tick [00:02:08].

Step 3: Import Catalogs and Watchlists

1. Click the **Configure** button in the database settings [00:02:12].

2. The TAI-PAN selection window will open. Here you will see all your subscribed real-time catalogs (e.g., CDAX) as well as your personal watchlists (e.g., "Hydrogen") [00:02:26].

3. Select the desired markets and click **Import** (Importieren).

4. *Note:* Depending on the size of the selected catalogs, this process may take some time. Please be patient until the success message appears [00:03:14].

5. Confirm all windows with **OK**. In the bottom right corner of AmiBroker, the plugin status should now say "active" [00:04:09].

Your live charts are now fully set up and will update in real-time as soon as new market data arrives [00:04:43].

🛠 Pro-Tip & Troubleshooting: Connection Fails?

You have installed the plugin, but AmiBroker is not receiving any data and the connection is not established? In almost all cases, this can be fixed via the **COM Server Registration** [00:00:40]:

1. In TAI-PAN Realtime, go to the **Advanced Features** (Erweiterte Funktionen) section [00:00:51].

2. Click the button **"Re-register COM server"** (COM-Server neu registrieren).

3. Wait a moment and then you must click on **Login** (Anmelden) once. This is required so the function is properly executed [00:01:00].

4. After this, the data connection to AmiBroker will work flawlessly.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

How do I add more real-time markets later?

If you want to add more securities or catalogs to your AmiBroker workspace later, you don't need to create a new database. Simply go to **File** > **Database Settings**, click on **Configure** next to your active database (e.g., TPR1), select the new catalogs, and hit **Import** [00:05:00].

Do I receive tick data or minute data?

This depends on your AmiBroker license. If you are using an unregistered/trial version of AmiBroker, you will generally only receive minute data [00:01:20]. For unfiltered, pure tick data streaming from the TAI-PAN feed, a registered and licensed version of AmiBroker is required.
